The candy in the letter
You already probably already heard about the old candy in the letter trick. Even though this is a easy way of marketing and building report with your customer, or prospects. Not many people us it.
I remember a company I work for a long time ago, they where planning to do something similar, and have bought up boxes with small plastic pouches with like 4-5 gummy bears inside of them. So far so good.
The whole thing was delay several times, and when it was time to send, like 6 months later, our the gummy bears with a company letter, those gummy bears had dried up and was hard as small pebbles. So we ended up throwing 3 boxes with like 500 bags away, total waste of money, and the response on, only the letter, was mediocre.
And the other thing that we made wrong, at least what I think, was the printed labels on the letters. I suggested that we write the names and address by hand. The idea was that it is not common to receive a letter now a days that is handwritten and it should be more of a curious and odd thing to get in these times.
Other ideas to but in letters, other than candy, are teabags, flat coffee pods, condoms, tags (like brand tags), add a sticky note on the letter with a personal note, flat batteries, flat box with toothpicks. Kind of anything that is flat and fit in to a letter, but avoid foods, can be rotten, and pills and powder, those can scare the bejesus out of people.
